Operational safety for AI: a new frontier
Welcome to Celestine Studios' public research into AI Action Authorization. As AI systems connect to real-world tools and operations, the risk shifts from incorrect text to unintended actions. This project introduces a critical missing control layer, moving the conversation from response safety to true operational safety. We're exploring how AI systems can be evaluated for authorization *before* an action is allowed to occur.

Beyond response safety: a governance layer for AI actions
The AI Action Authorization Test Harness is a reference demonstration of governance-first AI architecture. It allows organizations to simulate action requests and observe how a dedicated governance layer can detect authority, financial, and operational risk signals prior to execution. Most current AI safety approaches focus on moderating or correcting outputs *after* the model responds; our harness explores authorization *before* any action is taken. It produces an audit log and authorization report, showcasing why a request should be permitted or denied, ensuring operational safety for AI systems.

Empowering secure AI deployment
This research is designed for technical decision-makers, including engineering leaders, product teams, IT and security professionals, and compliance officers who are accountable for what AI systems are allowed to do. The core insight: while large language models are excellent probabilistic interpreters, they are not designed to decide whether an action should be permitted. The true control point for operational safety is authorization, a deterministic decision that must occur *before* the AI system performs an action. The harness helps visualize and test this critical boundary.

Run the harness. shape the future.
If you work with AI systems, we encourage you to run the AI Action Authorization Test Harness in your own environment. It’s simple to set up and designed to provide a practical way to model pre-execution authorization and generate audit artifacts. We are eager to hear about your experiences, especially if your organization connects AI to real operations (internal tools, automation, financial actions, production workflows).
